of Agriculture; federal undersecretary to secretaries of agriculture
Clifford Hardin and Earl Butz during the administrations of presidents
Nixon and Ford.
Accomplishments: While a farmer, Mr. Campbell gained attention
of state leadership. He won a Georgia House seat representing
Oconee County and served on the House Agriculture Committee. He
supported the creation of the Atlanta Farmers' Market and worked
closely with state leaders on multimillion-dollar projects for
the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. He served as an emeritus
trustee on the UGA Foundation and president of the UGA Alumni
Society. His induction into the Agriculture Hall of Fame is unique
in that he is the first father/son honoree. His father J. Phil
Campbell, Sr. was inducted in 1973.
