Calvin C. Murray

Born: August 5, 1907, Oakboro, North Carolina

Died: October 09, 2001

Occupation: Dean and coordinator of the College of Agriculture.

Accomplishments: Dean Murray organized, molded, developed and directed the College of Agriculture's teaching, research and extension programs to serve with singular success the needs and advancement of agriculture in Georgia. He was instrumental in establishing the Georgia Crop Improvement Association and the Foundation Seeds to enable certified growers to carry on multiplication and distribution of seed stock of improved varieties. He established a statewide soil testing program, organized the Georgia Plan Food Educational Society and created the Georgia Agribusiness Council. He served in many capacities in the International Development Program and became Emeritus Regents Professor, Dean of Agriculture, University of Georgia.
