Edgar L. Rhodes

Honored: October 1, 1993

Born: 1916, Milton (now Fulton) County, Georgia

Occupation: Vocational education teacher; farmer; extension agent; Farmers Home Administration; owner and vice-president of City Lumber Company in Bremen, Georgia; member of the Board of Regents.

Accomplishments: Mr. Rhodes was appointed to the Board of Regents in 1984, serving as chairman from 1989 until 1991. He was chosen as the Regents member on the 1996 Olympics Advisory Committee. His support of the Comprehensive Agricultural Livestock and Poultry Facility Project for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences gave it top ranking on the Regents list for funding. He established the Daisy Campbell Rhodes Scholarship Fund to assist CAES students who were actively involved in 4-H and FFA. He received the National 4-H Alumni Award; Friend of County Agents Award; Friend of 4-H Award; Haralson County Farmer of the Year; and Haralson County Man of the Year.
